Latest news & a message from the Founders

 Dear Friends and Supporters,

Apologies to Rock Ministries (NI) Trust

Greetings dear Reader. It has been a considerable time since I added to this blog. The reason for this is exactly the same as my reason for publicly apologising to you and Rock Ministries (NI) Trust.

Our webhost had problems and the site was down for some hours

It may have been frustrating for you if you were trying to get access to this site for several hours today.  Our webhost had a server problem and, although they were quite quick in fixing it, our site was completely inaccessible during this period.  Also our email bounced several mails back to their senders reporting that the address was permanently unobtainable.

Rock Ministries (NI) Trust is glad to report that rumours of our site's demise have been greatly exaggerated and things are working normally.

Expect site changes to come more quickly over the next few days

Recently, I have been rather unwell and taking care of my parents who are also in ill health.  Therefore, necessary modifications to the site have been limited to security issues and fixing serious bugs (luckily only a few).

However, there are now new articles coming online daily and at least one new video to watch is coming very soon.

My ISP had some problems

I'll not name them, but my ISP had some kind of technical glitch that put my broadband modem out of action for a couple of days.  They fixed it quite quickly, but it meant that I was unable to approve accounts, post new content etc.

However, I'm back online and getting caught up with the admin of the site. So, expect new things very soon, including new video, info on sponsoring children and some more updates on our Latest News pages.  Feedback has been fairly positive on the new look site, but don't forget to vote in our poll.

Phew! What a night!

Well, I've spent the entire night working on this site.  Some of the coding caused problems and a bit of searching around found that one of the tools I used for the galleries has a known bug in it.  The solution was simple, but more of a work-around until a proper patch becomes available.

Nevertheless, while there's quite a bit of content to add, all the main testing has taken place and everything is now working as expected.  In fact, it is now safe to let the site go live and add further content 'on the fly'...

This site is almost ready to go live

At last!!!  The graphics are done, the database is installed, and some of the content is paged and ready to go.

The site is in maintenance mode until tomorrow, so I have some time to test some of the important bits and add further content.  Setting up this site has involved me getting my hands dirty with the finer points of various coding languages and grappling with the ISP's peculiarities.  Overall, though, the experience has been worthwhile and I hope that you, dear reader, will find the site interesting.

The initial setup of this site is basically finished.

Since December 2008, I have been gathering resources and ideas for a major reworking of this site.  At first, I thought I might use a Flash-based system for delivering content.  However, I found that the interesting eye-candy was very easy to produce, but didn't give users of this website the opportunity to be more active in their participation.
