SAINTFIELD CHARITY CHRISTMAS RIDE

Saintfield has recently enjoyed yet another spectacle when almost 200 horses and riders paraded through the streets on Saturday 3 December for, what has become a Christmas tradition, the annual Charity Christmas Ride. Thanks to the organising ability of Joan Cunningham, Rock Ministries (NI) Trust will, once again, benefit from this charity event. The parade was led by a number of coaches drawn by Fresian horses, followed by numerous horses and riders dressed for the occasion in Santa outfits and other Christmas decorations. Those taking part met at the local market yard for mulled wine and mince pies before setting off on their ride through the town. Hundreds of shoppers and onlookers enjoyed the spectacle as the parade passed through the streets and gathered at the Christmas tree in the town. Those taking part then returned to the market yard for a well-deserved lunch. This year the weather was very favourable which was so different from the arctic conditions of last year which meant that the ride had to be cancelled. A big THANK YOU must go to Joan Cunningham for all the effort made in organising this annual event and also for securing sponsors. Photographs from this successful event can be seen below. A cheque will be presented to Rock Ministries (NI) Trust in the New Year. Thank you Saintfield and thank you Joan! Well done! Those less well off than ourselves, in Uganda, will benefit from the generosity of the people of Saintfield and surrounding area!
